The Decatur County Area Plan Commission met on June 5, 2024, at 6:30 pm.
The meeting was held at the Greensburg High School. The meeting was originally scheduled alongside the Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting. The BZA was canceled and the required publications for the APC had already been sent out with the change of location.
The Plan Commission Approved the meeting minutes from May 1, 2024.
APC Petition 2024-9 – Cecil Ison requested to rezone lots 41, 42, & 43 in Ebenezer Nutting’s Addition to The Town of New Point from an R-2 zoning classification to a B-2 zoning classification. This request fell under Decatur County Ordinance Article 11. The property is owned by Cecil Ison and is located at 8348 E CR 200 S, Greensburg, in Salt Creek Township. Cecil Ison plans to open a sister pizza shop to his Batesville location “Isons Family Pizza.” Cecil spoke about the work that is being put into the building and stressed that the history of the building is very important to him. The petition was approved.
APC Petition 2024-10 – Mark & Greta Schabel requested to subdivide two (2) approx. 5 acres parcels out of 24.060 acres and rezone approx. 2.99 acres of each 5-acre parcel from an A-1 zoning classification to an A-2 zoning classification for construction of a single-family detached dwelling on each parcel. This request fell under Decatur County Ordinance Section #920(7) & 915. The property is owned by the petitioners and is located just East of 8815 W CR 1300 S, Westport, in Jackson Township. Mark Schabel stated that these 2 lots will be deeded to each of their daughters and their husbands where they will build their homes. The petition was approved.
Krista Duvall, Area Plan Director, asked the board to consider canceling the APC meeting for July as the meeting date that is scheduled is July 3, 2024. Then the next two weeks are fair. The following week is too late in the month as they would be meeting the next day. Krista added that they have 2 petitioners at this time but that they are aware that the meeting may be canceled. The Plan Commission asked Krista to follow up with those petitioners and see if canceling the July meeting would prohibit or prolong their plans.
The meeting was adjourned.
