Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday.

Mark Mohr gave an update. They are continuing work on Bridge 73 and will be doing additional road work as well. They had hoped to be done with Millhousen Road before school started however this will not be the case. USI will be the engineering consultant for the joint city and county Park Road Project. The contracts for the bridge inspection near the Jr High were approved. These are not to exceed $190,000.

Krista Duvall presented a proposal for updates to the drainage ordinance. This separates the ordinance into 2 documents- 1 for the county and public and 1 for engineers. It would cost no more than $12,000 for the rewritten ordinance. This was approved to move forward.

Kenny Buening gave an update. There have been 22 building inspections, 11 new building permits, 2 permit renewals, and 2 red tags. There will be several letters sent to property owners in Burney.

Anita Diederich came to the board to inquire about the property in St Omar. The commissioners are allowed to dispose of the piece of property and will prepare a price for the property to be ready for purchase.

Bryan Gatewood with Mainstreet Westport came to the board to request a waiver for 1 sign permit. There are 2 Westport signs being placed and 1 sign does have a permit which they would like to extend to the second. This was approved.

Director of the Greensburg Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Dawn Lowe gave an update. So far for 2022 they have had 35 new members join the chamber, have had 25 networking opportunities, and 20 platform opportunities. They have also introduced a new feature for businesses to use on their website were they can post job openings. They ask any new businesses to contact them for any help they may need. The Commissioners invited Dawn Lowe to join the Decatur County Fair Committee.

The board approved the use of facilities for the parking lot next to Links Bar to uses during a ride benefit.

Miss Decatur County Ellie Acra sent a thank you for the commissioners donations to the pageant.

The board approved a vehicle transfer from the health department to IT.
