Greensburg Board of Works

The Greensburg Board of Works met on Monday.

Deena Hamer with The Decatur County YMCA came to the board to request road closures for the Tree City Run. There was a question of if they needed permission from the state to do a road closure on 421. This would not really be a closure, more of an assisted crossing by the police so there shouldn’t be an issue. This would be on November 20 from 9:45 am to 11:30 am. This was approved.

Police Chief Mike McNealy presented 2 applicants for new hires. The first applicant would be for immediate hire and the second would be pending the budget approval from City Council. This was approved.

Fire Chief Nathan Stoermer requested to dispose of surplus equipment. This would be a ladder truck and they would like to to take sealed bids after advertisement. This was approved.

Wastewater Superintendent Jeff Smith requested to get an engineering proposal for replacing the UV system. Next year the replacement parts for the current system will no longer be made, meaning that if a part fails the whole system fails. The board approved to enter into an agreement with Strand for $18,700.

Mayor Joshua Marsh presented his items to the board. The board approved to enter a contract with Empire Electric for $5,500. The READI Grant has been submitted and they received a knowledge of receipt. They recognize the department heads and employees for the work done in the community to help with the Comprehensive Plan and thank everyone involved.

The claims were approved.
