Westport Town Council met on Monday. The council signed the funeral deeds, payroll vouchers, adjustments, and monthly bills.
There was an update on the Westport Water Projects. Everything is going smoothly, however, weather has slowed them down. Concrete will be poured when the temperature gets warmer. They are currently waiting for a response from O’Mara Contractors about some alignments in town. There was 1 pay request from Thieneman Construction which was approved. There were 2 pay requests from O’Mara Contractors which were approved.
Resolution 2021-1 for the Westport employee COVID-19 policy update was discussed. There needed to be some clarification in wording and it will be brought back completed to the next meeting. Resolution 2021-2, a revision to the hiring policy, was approved. Resolution 2021-3, approving appropriations for the 2020 budget, was approved. They had finished the end of the year report and needed approval to move money to balance some accounts.
Ordinance 2021-1, regulation of mobile homes, was approved. This was a first reading and minor changes were made. There will be no mobile homes older than 10 years allowed.
ADA Compliance planning was discussed. This was a preliminary discussion for INDOT specifically. They will need to look further into the policy, and this will be discussed more at a later meeting.
The condemnation guidelines were discussed. They tried to look at what rules were generally used around Indiana to create their own guidelines. There was also talk of getting a town coordinator. A nuisance ordinance was discussed. There have been a lot of noise complaints recently, and they need to figure out an effective way of handling them. There have been problems in the past of people not paying fines. The board was informed that they are able to take civil actions to the county court.
