Westport Town Council

Westport Town Council met on Monday. The council signed the funeral deeds, payroll vouchers, adjustments, and monthly bills.

There was an update on the Westport Water Projects. Work is proceeding on the water plant. They are on schedule and are projected to be under budget on the water plant. O’Mara Contractors should be in town later this week to work on their project in town. Everything damaged will be repaired. Change order B2 was approved for processing. The board approved 2 payment applications. Everything has been submitted for the wastewater project.

There was a policy made for water bill penalties. There was a motion made to adopt these policies which was approved.

Ordinance 2021-3, for vacating a public alley on Elizabeth Street, was approved. Ordinance 2021-4, for vacating an alley on Damon’s Property, was approved.

Members from the Community Building came to the board to have a discussion on repairs. They have been maintaining the building for about 30-40 years and would like some monetary assistance from the town council on the larger repairs coming up. The building is older and needs updating and up keeping. They will first need an architect to look at the building and see what exactly needs to be done. The building belongs to the town and they will help as much as they can.

There was an update from the Westport police department. There were 2 arrests, 2 citations, 3 written warnings, 8 verbal warnings, 35 calls for services, and 3 investigations.

The board approved the bathroom in town hall being repaired. The insurance renewal was approved.
