Greensburg JH CC 8/21/21

The Greensburg Junior High Cross Country teams traveled to Indianapolis Saturday morning to compete in the Franklin Central Junior High Flash Dash Invitational. The Lady Pirates placed 10th out of 14 schools while the Gentlemen placed 8th. The Zionsville Middle School Teams won both the girls and boys events.
Invitational Medalist Lexiyne Harris led the Girls team with an impressive 11:36.8 for 3rd place finish. This is Lexiyne’s best time on the Franklin Central course and just 17s shy of a career personal record. Maddie Haviland also had an outstanding race placing 67th with a new best time of 14:48.7. Brianna Berkemeier (67th), Jenna Meyer (96th) and Scarlett Schoettmer (99th) also ran well with new season best times. Brianna and Jenna both improved by over a minute!
Quinton Walker was the top finisher for the Greensburg Boys placing 35th out of a field of 124 competitors. Quinton ran a remarkable 11:41.2 in his first Cross Country meet of his career. Xavier Cassis wasn’t far behind his teammate with a new career best time of 11:44.6 and a 38th place finish. This is a 38s improvement for Xavier from his previous career PR. Other great finishes came from Mason McNulty (70th), Max Buening (74th), Brennan Noah (76th), Luther Berkemeier (85th), Ethan Clifford (87th), Holden Shera (93rd), Sam Crowell (98th), and Nick Hunter (101st). All the boys ran season best times with Mason, Max, Brennan, Ethan, and Holden all improving by over a minute! It was very impressive to see the individuals new to this sport compete so well in such a big event. It was also spectacular to witness Xavier Cassis, Ethan Clifford and Holden Shera running their career best times so early in the season. Holden shed more than 2 minutes from his previous best.
The Pirates will compete again today. Come cheer them on in the 25 team Greensburg Invitational at the Elementary School.
