Greensburg Volleyball

Sectional wrap up from Coach June RIgney

Greensburg captured the sectional title this weekend by defeating Batesville 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-22 and then defeating Lawrenceburg in the finals 25-11, 25-18, 26-24. It was a great day for us and it took the entire team to capture the title. Our first match against Batesville we started slowly, but we were able to find a way to win which allowed us to advance to the finals. In the match against Lawrenceburg, we came out strong and played pretty well throughout the entire match. We were able to break their momentum streaks and made some key plays at important times. Serving strong throughout the day for the Pirates: Abigail Hoeing 44-46, 2 aces Josie Nobbe, 31-31, 5 aces Janae Comer, 29-29, 1 ace Jenna Foster 21-22 Kenedee Lowe, 17-18, 4 aces

Offensively, leading us in kills: Josie Nobbe, 27 Ella Chapman, 22 Carlee Adams, 11 Leah West, 7

Defensively, leading us in digs: Abigail Hoeing, 33 Christina Fogg, 21 Janae Comer, 19 Assist leaders: Jenna Foster, 35 Leah West, 15 Josie Nobbe, 12 Block leaders: Ella Chapman, 12 Carlee Adams, 6 Leah West, 4 Josie Nobbe, 4 Claire Nobbe, 2

It’s evident from our stat line that all members of the team were instrumental in the victories. I am so proud of their effort, focus, and determination to beat two good teams in one day and all the girls bought in to their roles on the court. The final point of the championship match was served by our only senior, Kayla Kelso, which was a great way to capture the title. We travel to Charlestown on Saturday and play Evansville Memorial at 10:00AM.
