Pearl Harbor Remembrance

From Congressman Greg Pence –

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

On this morning, 82 years ago today, on December 7, 1941, the United States of America was brutally attacked in two waves by 353 Imperial Japanese aircrafts at the Pearl Harbor naval base, in an attempt to devastate the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Catching U.S. forces completely by surprise, 2,400 American sailors and soldiers tragically lost their lives that day, and 1,200 more were wounded. Over half of our military aircraft were damaged and destroyed in this historic attack.Just days later, Germany and Italy declared war on our nation, and America found itself in another infamous global war. At a time when the United States continues to face threats from our adversaries abroad, it is crucial that we push policies that prioritize our military, national security, and service members, so that we will never again allow America to be attacked like this.On this 82nd anniversary of the devastation at Pearl Harbor, let us honor and remember those heroic Americans who were taken from us on that day. We will never forget the service and sacrifice of those who have paid the ultimate price for our Freedom. May God bless their souls.
