EDINBURGH, Ind. — An Edinburgh police officer is facing charges on allegations involving molesting a 12-year old boy.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Nunez, 33, faces two counts of child molesting.

The boy and his mother reached out to police in December. When investigators spoke with the 12-year-old boy, he told them that the molestation started when he was six and happened once a month for the next six years, only when his mother was out of the house. The boy said Nunez forced him to touch him and do other sexual activities.

Nunez was arrested Tuesday. Each charge could be worth 20-50 years in prison, meaning Nunez could face up to 100 years.
