Decatur County Council

The Decatur County Council met on Tuesday.

Linda Westrup and Rosie Stier presented the 2023 budget for the Community Healthcare Clinic. They moved buildings recently and are now located next to Rural King. The rent is a bit higher in the new building and they had some construction costs due to renovations made. They are requesting a slightly higher budget due to the raise in rent. The Community Healthcare Clinic will be hosting an open house on Wednesday from 2:30-5:30. These funds are from the Riverboat funds. The request was acknowledged.

Kelli Jetti presented the 2023 budget for the Children’s Advocacy Coalition of SE Indiana. Jetti is the new executive director of the Coalition and they work with a multidisciplinary team that provides forensic interviews with children ages 2-18 and developmentally delayed adults who have allegedly been abused. The services they provide are free and they have had 302 children come through since their opening in 2020 and unfortunate those numbers do continue to rise. They are hoping to start their prevention program in Decatur County and Greensburg Schools within the next school year. They will be hiring 4 new employees for this because dude to confidentiality they are not allowed volunteers. They are requesting $10,000 and these are Riverboat funds. The request was acknowledged.

Sheriff Durant came to the board to discuss gas prices. The fuel costs have gone up and they have about 1.5 months of fuel left. They did put in a request for $100,000 from COVID money to cover future fuel costs. They also inquired about when they would hear back from the salary study. The salary study results should be released in the next couple of weeks.

All transfers were approved. All additionals were approved. Bill Rethlake was reappointed to the Library Board. Ron Kenelli was appointed to the APC board.

The Delta Faucet tax abatement was tabled.
