Decatur County Area Plan Commission

The Decatur County Area Plan Commission met on Wednesday.

Brian Huff requested to subdivide 3.30 acres and 2.6 acres out of 107 acres and rezone 2.99 acres out of 3.30 acres and 2.6 acres from an A-1 to an A-2 zoning classification for the construction of a single family detached dwelling on each. Huff is basically surveying off the land for when people want to buy it and build their homes on it. The property is located in Greensburg, Marion Township. Petition 2021-12 was approved.

Marshall Edwards requested to subdivide and rezone 2.99 acres out of 7.50 acres from an A-1 to an A-2 zoning classification to be able to sell as a buildable lot. This will be on rural water. A neighbor was present and expressed concerns on property lines. They would like to have a copy of the legal property line with markers. The property is located in Greensburg, Clay Township. Petition 2021–13 was approved.

Bruce Bedel requested to subdivide 3.5 acres out of 38.453 acres and rezone 2.99 acres out of the 3.5 from an A-1 to an A-2 zoning classification for the construction of a single family detached dwelling. They would like to build their forever home. The plan is to have a well. The property is located in Greensburg, Fugit Township. Petition 2021-14 was approved.

Kenny Harrison requested to rezone 2.99 acres out of 25.85 acres from an A-1 to an A-2 zoning classification for the construction of a single family detached dwelling. They would like to build their forever home on family land. The property is located in Greensburg, Adams Township. Petition 2021-15 was approved.

Krista Duvall requested to vacate the following lots in the Plat of Letts Corner: Lots 1-10 block 1; lots 1-10 block 2; lots 1,4,5,8,9 block 3; lots 5-10 block 10; lots 5-10 block 9; lots 8,9 block 8; lots 1-10 block 24; lots 1-10 block 17; lots 1-10 block 25; lots 1-10 block 16; along with all streets and alleys within these blocks. They would like to fix the descriptions to help clear confusion and vacating the lots will help this. This will help make sure all meets and bounds on the parcels are correct. The property owners effected agreed with this as it will help in the future if they ever sell their homes. This was approved.

Troy Benge came to the board to ask what to do about his basement that is being flooded by the neighbors water diversion. This has been an ongoing problem for years. The current drainage ditch is supposed to drain into sand creek. This was taken care of a few years ago except no maintenance plan was put into place for the upkeep of the open ditches.

The solar energy facilities ordinance draft was presented to the board. The board approved a favorable recommendation to be passed on to the commissioners.
