Decatur County Board of Zoning Appeals

The Decatur County Board of Zoning Appeals met on Wednesday.

Donald Rowe requested a special exception for an A-1 zoning classification to put private guest quarters in an unattached structure. Rowe has gotten approval to build a pole barn on his property to house equipment and would like to have it be split in half to be a place for family to stay when they visit. The property is owned by the petitioner in Westport, Jackson Township. Petition 2021-2 was approved.

Jordan Wallpe requested a conditional use in an A-1 zoning classification to sell locally grown flowers and house plants and to put up a sign. Wallpe and his wife recently built a pole barn to use as a garage and a hobby barn. They would like to use that barn as a flower shop to sell flowers grown on the property seasonally. The sign would be roughly 5-6 feet tall and they do not plan to have it lit. They would also like the sign to be removable for the off season. The property is owned by the petitioner in Greensburg, Washington Township. Petition 2021-3 was approved.
