Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday. The board approved the claims.

Mark Mohr gave an update. The shoulder work on W CR 400 S and S CR 60 SW has been completed. They will be doing a culvert replacement on CR 700 E. The new trucks have yet to be fitted with the equipment for snow, however they will be by the end of the week. There was a compliment given to the highway department on how good of a job they did on cleaning up a ditch.

Krista Duvall presented ordinance 2020-16 which was approved. The Decatur County Ordinances were also presented to the board. There was discussion on whether or not wording on a septic ordinance should be even further simplified and that will be looked into. The agriculture article of the ordinances have been sent back unchanged from their original state from the APC with the promise to continue to update and improve as time goes on. The 2020 Decatur County Ordinance Revisions were approved.

Kenny Buening gave an update. There have been 54 inspections, 17 new building permits, and no red tags. Buening discussed the burned house at Lake McCoy with Mr.Bass and the main problem is the property line runs right through the middle of the house and neither property owner is saying whose it really is. They were asked to not send letters to the property in Sandusky as the neighbors are fixing it.

There was a motion to approve a 2 year, 8 month contract with RBSK to take care of the countys IT which was approved. Koors Heating and Cooling inspected 3 air handlers on the old Sheriffs office that needs to be upgraded. This would cost $6,024. This was approved. Josh Tressler presented the phone system quotes. The need for a new phone system in the courthouse is extremely necessary as the phones go down constantly. Every option presented is 10x easier than the current system. The commissioners approved Comcast to provide their new phone system.

There was a new sound system installed in the EOC building. Rick Nobbe talked to Clearsound about when meetings are so they can get the system set up in the courthouse meeting room. The Commissioners meetings will continue to be on the 1 and 3 Monday of every month. If there is a holiday it will be moved to the Tuesday after. Eagle Industries offered to purchase the jail pods for $1.3 million. The Sheriff thanked Rick Nobbe for his time, saying that he made him a better person.

All board appointments were approved. They board elected Mark Koors to be President of the County Commissioners.

There was a plaque given to Rick Nobbe for his service to the commissioners.
