Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday. The board approved the claims.

Krista Duvall presented ordinances 2020-28, 2020-2, and 2020-26 to the board. These were approved. Ordinance 2021-1 was presented to the board who accepted the unfavorable recommendation. Kenny Buening gave an update to the board. There have been 31 inspections, 2 complaints, 17 new building permits, and no red tags.

Brian Wenning requested approval for road closures for the St Mary’s On Eagles Wings run. This is the same route as previous years. The roads will be closed from 8am-11am on August 28. This was approved.

Ralph Means requested a road closure in St Omar. This will be split between the 2 property owners. This was approved.

The board approved CARES act reimbursed money. Decatur County Memorial Hospital was awarded $280,000. This is for general expenses in PPE and to help run the vaccination clinic. Decatur County schools were awarded $50,000. Greensburg Community schools were awarded $20,000 from the county and $30,000 from the city. Letts Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $9,900 for general bills and supplies as well as reimbursement for backup calls for EMS.

The public meeting scheduled for March 25 for the INDOT intersection change by Lowe’s has been cancelled. Mark Koors, Mayor Marsh, Ron May, and Mark Mohr all met with INDOT to discuss some issues. After discussion INDOT decided to go back to the drawing board.

The board is purchasing land For a new highway department. Majority of the funding is not from taxpayer money.
