Decatur County Council

The Decatur County Council met on Tuesday.

Sue Lamborn with Thrive Alliance requested $15,000 for their aging and community service. This is the same as they have requested in the past. This will be reviewed in August at budget time.

Lisa Hermesch with Champions of Youth requested the same $6,000 as they have received in the past. They support hundreds of kids in both the county and city. They also noted that mentors seemed to have come out of the woodworks during Covid which they are thankful for. This will be reviewed in August at budget time.

Director of the Greensburg Adult Center Monty Shields thanked the board for their past support and would appreciate any funds they would give them. Last year they received $5,000. This will be reviewed in August at budget time.

Josh Tressler discussed the budget for the ARP funding of cyber security. Cyber attacks have been high recently and this would help secure the emails system and have better backups in the county. The staff would also receive training on what to look for in emails and files to be able to spot these hacks. This would cost roughly $208,000. The largest reoccurring charges would be the email security and switching the courthouse over to Microsoft Office if they choose to do so. This will be in the presentation of the ARP money.

Kelly Wampler with New Directions requested $10,000 to help cover fixed expense and do outreach into the community. They requested no money last year and would be grateful for any funding they get. This will be reviewed in August at budget time.

Melissa Foist with Bread of Life requested $15,000 to help with operating costs. Their goal is to feed the hungry and over 1,000 people were served in 2020. They have received nothing in the past. This will be reviewed in August at budget time.

Sheriff Durant presented his additional. This is for $30,000 out of cumulative cap for a vehicle replacement. The county commissioners have approved this. The council approved.

Jim Saylor will continue to serve on the RDC board until the end of the year or a replacement is found before then.

The transfers were approved.
