Greensburg Board of Works

The Greensburg Board of Works met on Monday.

Molly Speer came to the board for the approval of Myla’s Mission 5k route. This is the 4th annual 5k and will be the same route as the past years. It will be held on May 15th with registration starting at 8 am and starting at 9 am. Speer requested no road blocks but would like the police there to help with traffic, Chief Bridges is supportive. A board member suggested to close the Montgomery Rd section for an hour for extra safety. Chief Bridges and Molly will meet to talk about that. This was approved.

Police Chief Brendan Bridges requested to purchase 3 Ford Explorers. This would be from Don Meyer Ford and would cost $99,727.17 for all 3. This has been budgeted for 2021. This was approved. Fire Chief Nathan Stoermer came to the board for approval of a conditional employment offer. After interviews for the fire department, he believes candidates 2 and 1 (in that order) should be offered conditional employment. This was approved. Chief Stoermer also invited the board to Fire Education Day being held on April 10. City council, the mayor, and others that they offer a service to will also be invited to the station to become a firefighter for a day.

Street Commissioner Mark Klosterkemper reviewed the bid for the sale of a flatbed truck. Schomburg Construction was the highest bidder with $5,009. This was approved.

City Engineer Ron May presented the Community Crossing Matching Grant 2020-2 bid opening. The bids were as follows: Milestone Contractors for $257,120, Allstar Pavement Inc. for $232,737.98, Dave O’Mara Contractors for $206,972.90, Paul H. Rohe Company for $222,604, and Globe Asphalt Paving for $225,916.75. These were accepted. The application for progress payment number 1 for the city hall renovation project was approved.

Clerk Treasurer Brenda Dwenger presented the Civic Plus contract. The current system for the city is antiquated and needs to be updated and more user friendly. They talked to Civic system and were shown what they could move forward with. This is within the budget. Dwenger would like to request approval to sign the contract. This was approved.

Building Commissioner Sarah Hamer presented an agreement with American Structurepoint for the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Ordinance. This is within the budget and would be $220,500 total. This was approved. Hamer also presented a Civic Plus contract for her department. This is the same contract as the clerk treasurer. This was approved.

Mayor Joshua Marsh presented the Rainbow Environmental contract. This was a company hired outside of the contract for the city hall renovations to handle asbestos. This was approved.
