Greensburg Youth Empowerment, Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on educating youth and young adults ages 5-20 through outdoor skills, first aid awareness, science and technology, and community, national, and world citizenship awareness. The mission of our organization is to partner with compatible youth organizations and promote a higher-quality experience for the youth by leveraging the current program curriculum.
The current critical need is the support of the Venture Crew 2578’s Boundary Waters trip; a five-day hiking and canoeing high adventure for 8 youth and 4 adult leaders. The Boundary Waters will take the team out of familiar environments and provide experiences in camping, canoeing, and life skills without typical conveniences and resources. The trip is planned for late summer 2024. Funding is needed to have this opportunity.
Leading up to the trip, the crew has worked on planning, fundraising, and physical preparations; including attending Wilderness First Aid training, executing several campouts and canoeing trips, and developing as a team.
The trip will challenge participants physically and mentally, developing perseverance, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Youth and adults will be empowered to develop leadership and communication characteristics as well as emerge with self-confidence, and self-reliance in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals.
We appreciate your consideration in supporting this exciting adventure! The trip cost is $11,160. Through fundraisers and participant contributions, we have raised $5,500. We still need $5,600 to have this trip fully funded.
