Senior Emarie Jackson earned a regional championship in both shot put and discus, winning both events at Tuesday’s girls track regional at Shelbyville High School. Junior Olivia Grimes also qualified for next week’s state meet in the discus. Jackson threw 48-08 in the shot put, winning by over six feet over the second place thrower from Greenwood. In the discus, Jackson threw 149-09, winning by over 14 feet. Grimes finished fifth in the discus with a distance of 128-03. Both athletes will participate in next week’s IHSAA Track and Field State Finals, held on May 31 at the Robert C. Hough Track & Field Complex at Indiana University.
