Optimist Club Names Law Officer of the Year

McNealy receiving award

The Greensburg Optimist Club met on Thursday.

On May 20, 1971 the club was chartered making this the to-the-day 50 year anniversary. The thought for the day was “if you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”

Dennis Fogel announced the Law Officer of the Year, honoring someone who had made contributions to their community. This year the recipient was Assistant Chief Mike McNealy. McNealy has been assistant chief for 3 years and has put countless hours into keeping the CAD system up for Decatur County. Currently he is reviewing all of the Greensburg Police Departments policies and updating them. He is also in charge of the tactical response team and helped the department get an armored peacemaker. McNealy is dedicated to his job and always there in times of need. McNealy thanked the optimist club for this honor.

The optimist club has a thank you from the Greensburg Community Schools foundation for their donation. There is a ribbon cutting at the Speranza house on May 20 at 1 and they are also having open house on May 21 from 9-4. August 18 will be the official celebration of their 50 year club anniversary. Next week they will be naming optimist of the year.
