The Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday. The board approved the claims.

Mark Mohr gave an update. N CR 880 E is a working project beginning on January 4. This will be a new back entrance into Lake Santee and there will be pipe replacement as well as bank removal. February 15 will be the open day for bids for asphalt, stone, and fuel.

Krista Duvall presented ordinance 2020-15 to the board. This was approved. Kenny Buening gave an update. There have been 28 inspections, 5 new building permits, and 1 red tag. There were several emails from the State Building Committee saying that a storage shed on an A-1 zone is a class 1 building.

Sheriff Durant gave an update to the board. They have been approved by county council to get a full time maintenance person and they have been receiving phone calls from interested local applicants. They also received a grant from the United Fund for a full time programs director. This grant would allow for a $46,500 salary. The pods are still in the process of being sold. They have sent in a bid for bunk beds and would like to proceed with the purchase.

Jonathan Ore was appointed to the Health Board.

Commissioner Chuck Emsweller was welcomed to the board.
