North Decatur Varsity Softball falls to Edinburg


It came down to the last play, but North Decatur Chargers Varsity was on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Edinburgh on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Edinburgh batting in the bottom of the eighth when MacKenzie Bieker homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Edinburgh pitchers struck out nine, while North Decatur Chargers Varsity sat down seven.
North Decatur Chargers Varsity knotted the game up at two in the top of the seventh inning, when Lilli Tatman hit a solo homer.
Bieker was the winning pitcher for Edinburgh. The fireballer surrendered two runs on five hits over eight innings, striking out nine.
Haley Arthur took the loss for North Decatur Chargers Varsity . Arthur allowed ten hits and five runs over seven and a third innings, striking out seven and walking one.
North Decatur Chargers Varsity launched two home runs on the day. Tatman had a dinger in the seventh inning. Keisha Crosland went yard in the fifth inning.
Tatman led North Decatur Chargers Varsity with two hits in three at bats. North Decatur Chargers Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Kacie Ogden had the most chances in the field with seven.
Edinburgh had ten hits in the game. Mackenzie Whetstine, Catey Streeval, and Gracie Crawhorn all managed multiple hits for Edinburgh. Edinburgh didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kyah Streeval had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.
