North Decatur Chargers Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat
North Decatur Chargers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-9 loss to Greenwood on Saturday. Greenwood scored on a walk by N Wheatlley, a grand slam by T Dick, a home run by K Hankenhoff, and a home run by S Markowurz in the second inning.
Despite the loss, North Decatur Chargers Varsity did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Greenwood had 13 hits on the way to victory.
In the second inning, Greenwood got their offense started. Wheatlley drew a walk, scoring one run.
North Decatur Chargers Varsity notched five runs in the seventh inning. North Decatur Chargers Varsity ‘s big inning was driven by a single by Kennedy Stier, by Kacie Ogden, a fielder’s choice by Keisha Crosland, and a double by Lilli Tatman.
Dick earned the win for Greenwood. The ace went four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out five. Markowurz and K Berger entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Crosland took the loss for North Decatur Chargers Varsity . The pitcher went four innings, allowing ten runs on eight hits and striking out two.
North Decatur Chargers Varsity hit one home run on the day. Crosland had a long ball in the second inning.
North Decatur Chargers Varsity scattered 11 hits in the game. Stier and Tatman each managed multiple hits for North Decatur Chargers Varsity . Stier went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead North Decatur Chargers Varsity in hits.
Greenwood tallied 13 hits in the game. Dick, A Pritchet, and Berger each collected multiple hits for Greenwood. C Hankenhoft led Greenwood with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
