1892 One-Room School burns in Bartholomew County

Today, June 14, 2021, approximately 2:14 a.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Dustin Newland and Deputy Brandon Sellers responded to the area of E 250 N/N 500 E in reference to a structural fire.

On arrival, deputies located a fully engulfed building on the east side of the roadway. The structure was an 1892 one-room school house.

Fire departments arrived and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries.
