Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday.

Todd Houk gave an update on the highway department. They have finished work bridge 73 however continue to work on road widening before bad weather hits. They finished putting in a pipe and raising the road on CR 1250 E. The trucks have been prepped for snow and they are continuing patching.

Kenny Buening gave an update. There have been 35 building inspections, 2 new building permits, 2 red tags, and 2 complaints. One complaint property has been visited and a letter has been sent. One still needs to be investigated.

Steve Ruble presented the contract with Dave O’Mara Contractors for the water main project. This was approved.

The power of the past land lease was approved.

There was a request for an alley vacation. The property owner owns all 4 parcels surrounding the alley. This is in order to put in a septic system for a home they plan to place. This was approved.

Homeland Security recently reinspected the jail and they passed with flying colors. There is talk of looking into purchasing a water softener system for the entire jail, as scaling has been damaging pipes.
