Greensburg City Council

Greensburg City Council met on Tuesday.

There was a public hearing held for a vacation easement. There was no public comment.

City Clerk Treasurer Amy Borns presented Ordinance 2023-11 for additional appropriation from rainy day funds. This was approved.

Mayor Josh Marsh presented Ordinance 2023-12 for the creation of a designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA). This will need to be submitted to the state after approval from the council. This was approved.

City Engineer Ron May presented Ordinance 2023-06 for vacation of alley for First Christian Church. This was approved, 4-1.

Veridus Group gave an update on the monthly on the Municipal Complex Project. The retention pond is nearly complete and they are continuing work on grading. The storm sewer is in progress and they are working back from the pond. The Fire Station has begun work on the footings and foundation walls. The stair tower is underway and the structural steel is arriving in September. The Street Department building pad stone had been placed. There have been no issues or complaints and the project is on schedule to complete in Spring of 2024.

Police Chief Mike McNealy requested an additional appropriation for the replacement of a police vehicle deemed unusable by insurance. This was approved. National Night Out is August 17 at 5:00 pm at North Park. There will be demos, festivities, food, and music. The entire community is invited.

Building Commissioner Sarah Hamer presented Ordinance 2023-14 for an amendment to the building code. This is regarding the administration of fences. Their office feels they need to oversee fences being put up around the city and ensure that they follow code. This was approved.

Street Commissioner Mark Klosterkemper presented Ordinance 2023-13 for vacation of easement. There are no utilities on this easement and the current property has a home built partially on it. This was approved. Heavy Trash week will be August 21-25. Same guidelines as last heavy trash and there will be no brush or yard waste collection that week.

City Engineer Ron May presented Ordinance 2023-15 for the stormwater management ordinance. This was approved.

Mayor Josh Marsh presented the Council appointment to Decatur County Community Foundation for the Lilly Scholarship essay review committee. The board approved Josh Marsh as their appointment.
