St. Mary’s Cross Country


St. Mary’s hosted their final home cross country meet on Tuesday evening against South Ripley and Franklin County. The Knights team captains are graduating 8th graders: Braylon Brancamp, Alaina Bedel, and Katie Fisse. All 3 had spectacular races for their last home meet. We are proud of each of them and thank them for the dedication they show to their team. 

The St. Mary’s boys took 2nd in the tri-meet. Braylon Brancamp (11:20) claimed 2nd place overall with his season best time. Conner Bedel (PR 12:54) took 3rd place and Fletcher Hash (13:09) brought home 6th place. Charles Cornett (PR 14:25), Carson Kendall (15:06), and Landen Fuel (15:07) placed 9th-11th for the Knights. Nolan Wells (16:08) finished 12th and Maxwell Gauck (19:00) rounded out the roster with a 14th place finish in the boys’ race.

The girls had a lot of Personal Records set during the tri-meet. The girls brought home 1st place as a team. Alaina Bedel (12:42) set a new home course record for the girls taking 1st place overall. Josie Wenning (PR 13:42) and Makayla Kieffer (PR 13:57) took 3rd and 5th place ribbons. Frankie Fry (PR 14:02), Kelsey Slaven (PR 14:27), Katie Fisse (14:33), Raegan Abplanalp (PR 14:36), and Josie Slaven (14:45) finished back to back claiming 7th-11th place finishes. Caitlyn Kendall (16:17), Kylie Harpring (16:54), Harper Kinsey (16:56), and Mackenzie Lohrum (17:03) finished 13th-16th in the girls race. The Knights race again at Rushville on Thursday. —
