On May 30, 2021, approximately 4:37 p.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to S Jonesville Road/E 850 S for an accident involving a Fed Ex delivery truck and a motorcycle. On arrival, first responders located the motorcycle driver, identified as Sterling Albert Wessel, 30, Jonesville, deceased at the scene.
Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Holley was called to the scene for crash reconstruction. Several witnesses indicted that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on SR11 (Jonesville Road) at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred.
The driver of the Fed Ex truck was checked and cleared by EMS personnel on scene.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Wessel.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
