A. Joyce Lucas -Richey, 94

Joyce Lucas-Richey, of Greensburg, IN, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021. Joyce was born on February 6, 1927 to Everett and Rosella Marie (Etchison) Owens in Pendleton, IN. She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1945 where she met her future husband, Kenneth R. Shull. They got married September 8, 1945 and welcomed their son, Wayne Thomas “Tom” Shull the following September. Kenneth Shull passed away September of 1947.

Joyce then married Kenneth H. Lucas July 16, 1949. They went on many adventures including being snowbirds to Texas. The two enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bowling, traveling, and boating. Kenneth Lucas passed away on March 29, 1988.

Joyce then married Norman J. Richey December 5, 1998. They too enjoyed traveling and playing cards. They also loved to dance and watched the Pacers, IU Basketball and the Colts.

Joyce’s son, Tom, married Jane (Lohman) and had a daughter Jennifer who she greatly adored. Jennifer and her husband Nick blessed her with two great-grandchildren who were “so precious to me”.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Kenneth Shull, Kenneth Lucas, Norm Richey; son, Wayne Thomas “Tom” Shull; and sister, Janey Lee Lucas

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jane Shull of Greensburg; granddaughter, Jennifer (Nick) Schutte of Greensburg; great-grandchildren: Drew and Harper Schutte; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.

Joyce was a 50-year member of the Naanah Chapter #73 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Aux Post 70, 50-year member of Shelbyville Firefighters Aux, State President of Indiana Firefighters Assoc. Aux 1974-1975, Addison Township Assessor (Shelbyville) 1991-1994, and member of the Waldron United Methodist Church.

Joyce and sister, Janet Lee, married brothers. They spent a lot of time together and her sister’s children: Eric, Jeff, Cathy, and Kyle; were like her own.

She enjoyed being with family and friends, helping and comforting them in times of need. Her son, Tommy; granddaughter, Jennifer; and great-grandchildren: Drew and Harper; were the loves of her life.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 2pm-4pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 4pm, also at the funeral home.
