Lou Ann Burns, 87

Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at home, Lou Ann Burns, age 87, went
home to be with her Lord and Savior, and happily reunited with loved ones on Thursday,
March 9, 2023. She was born on July 4, 1935, in New Point, Indiana, to the late Donald
and Mabel (Harding) Wise. She married the love of her life, Edward Donald Burns on
July 27, 1952, and he preceded her in death.  Friends and family affectionately knew her
as “Annie” with one of her greatest attributes of never knowing a stranger and always
making you feel welcome and safe. She was employed and retired from Delta Faucet
where she made numerous lifelong friends who adored her outgoing nature. Whenever
you visited her home she happily greeted you by offering a drink, meal, or a loving ear to
lay down your burdens to, as well as a safe place to rest your head at night. So many
people walked through her doorstep and were always greeted and surrounded by her
warm embrace and beautiful affection and humor.
She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church where she worshiped and
honored her love of God and fellowship.
Her greatest passions were her children and grandchildren. She will lovingly be
remembered by her surviving children, Charlotte (Larry) Bailey, Son-In-Law Jim Luken,
Margie (Phil) Poling, Jeff (Diane) Burns, Kim Burns, and Dottie (Stephen) Gommel.  She
was preceded in death by three of her children, Patty Luken, Jim Burns, and Donna
Burns, one grandchild Rebecca Lee, and two great-grandchildren, John and Savannah
Vanek. She was also preceded by five brothers, Bill (Gussie) Innis, Bob Innis, Sam Innis,
Richard Wise, Donnie Wise, and three sisters, and Charlene Gray, Barbara Draper, and
Marilyn Wise. Surviving her is her youngest sister, Jane Jacobs.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 13th at Porter-Oliger-Pearson
Funeral Home. Funeral Services begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14th at the funeral
home with Joyce Barker officiating. Burial to follow at Rossburg Cemetery in New Point.
