Decatur County Fair Committee Meeting- 1/15/25

The Decatur County Fair Committee met on January 15, 2025, at 6:30pm.

The meeting began with the approval of the December meeting minutes.

The committee continued last month’s discussion about having a website created for the Decatur County Fair. After careful discussion the committee decided that they would look to the county to create a webpage that is connected to the county’s website. Jeremy Pasel said that he would follow up with the website designers that the county uses and discuss adding this page. The consensus of the committee was that this would be a great way to make Baby Contest Forms, Booth Rental Forms, Fair Calendar, Parade Entry, and other forms more easily accessible for the community.

Chris Ramey provided an update about changing the name of the Fair’s Facebook page to “Decatur County, IN 4H Fair.” Chris also provided data from the Fair’s Facebook stating- From 2/1/24- 1/14/25 the page received 13,100 views, 140,300 reaches, 98,800 visits, and currently has 3,200 followers. Chris updated the committee to let them know that they now have an Instagram that is connected to the Facebook page.

Christopher Fogle looked into the data associated with the “Grandstand App” and reported that since the app was first used, we have had 1400 downloads and of those there was 140 downloads in the past 365 days. The committee voted to not renew our agreement with the app due to the low use and the cost associated with the app.

Mark Koors, Bill Metz, and Kevin Crites attended the Fairs & Festivals Convention where they spoke with Luehrs and a few other event companies. Kevin Crites reported that Luehrs is very excited with the plans the fairgrounds have within READI project and are excited to work with the new committee.

The committee discussed the tentative schedule for track events. *These are subject to change*- Thursday- Wolf Bros ATV Drags, Friday- All Star TQ Midgets, Saturday-Demo Derby, Sunday-KOI Truck Drags, Monday-NTPA Truck & Tractor Pulls, and Tuesday- Kings Rodeo.

The committee decided that all information and edits for the Fair Book is due May 1, 2025.

The committee agreed to keep the sponsorship levels the same- Gold $10,000. Silver $2,500, and Platinum $500. If you are interested in being a sponsor for the 2025 Fair, please reach out via email at crameyconsutling@gmail.com.

Cody Gault, 4-H Council Representative came to the board and discussed the possibility of adding a new electrical box to the Livestock Building, flooding concerns and solutions for the Goat Barn’s flooding during rain, water runoff from the Poultry Building going into the Hoop Building. Cody asked and received the approval to utilize a portion of the Commercial Building for 4-H projects since the Community Building will be demolished.

The committee voted that the 2025 Decatur County 4-H Fair Parade theme will be “The Year of the Farmer”.

The committee voted to change the Fair Committee meetings from the 2nd Wednesday of the month to the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. The meetings are open to the public.
