Battle of the Badges Blood Drive Set for Nov. 6 in Decatur County

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur County Health Department are joining forces to host the county’s first-ever Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Decatur County Health Department, 315 South Ireland Street in Greensburg.

This friendly competition puts local first responders and public health teams head-to-head — with the community deciding who has the “biggest heart.” Each blood donor will have the chance to cast a vote for their favorite department, whether it’s the Sheriff’s deputies, health department staff, firefighters, police officers, or other frontline heroes.

“Every donation makes a difference,” organizers said. “Not only can one donation save up to three lives, but it also gives the community a chance to show support for the people who serve and protect Decatur County every day.”

In addition to helping save lives, participants will enjoy refreshments following their donation. The department earning the most votes will claim a trophy, plaque, and bragging rights until next year’s rematch.

While the event is built on competition, the real goal is unity. “No matter which team you vote for, the true winner is our community,” organizers emphasized.

Residents are encouraged to sign up in advance and bring a friend to donate alongside them.
