Greensburg Cross Country Opens 2025 Season at Hauser Hokum Karem

The Greensburg Cross-Country teams raced for the first time in 2025 Tuesday evening.  Hauser High School hosted their 4th annual Hokum Karem.  For this race, athletes run alternating mile repeats for a total of six miles.  After an hour delay because of inclement weather, the top Pirate duos set the course records in the boys’ and girls’ competition.  The Greensburg tandem of Joe Hawkins and Quinton Walker won in a total time of 30:58. Joe Hawkins ran his last mile under 5:00 to secure the win. 

The next Pirate team was Conner Bedel and Xavier Cassis.  They ran 33:53 for 3rd place overall.  Henry Corya and Jackson Tekulve placed 6th in 37:07.  Luke Dwenger and Xavier Wade took 8th in 38:33. Ethan Clifford and Oliver Corya finished in 10th with a time of 39:14.  Patrick Robbins and Noah Grossman placed 11th in 40:48.  Freshman Zayden Mathews ran a total time of 26:03. 

In the girls’ competition, the freshman tandem of Lulu Webb and Eleanor Davis won in a time of 37:09 setting a new course record.  Josie Slaven and Alaina Bedel placed second in 41:25. Alli Bedel and Chloie Davis finished 4th with a time of 49:52 in their first high school competition.  Avonlee Bohall and Elizabeth Walden were 6th in 55:07.  The Pirates return to action on Saturday morning when they travel to Madison for the Lou Knoble Invitational.  The boys’ race begins at 8:30 am.
