On Thursday, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department joined us in the studio to help prepare residents for several upcoming construction projects and important summer safety reminders.
Work continues on I-74 — if possible, avoid interstate travel. If you must use the interstate, remember the speed limit is 55 mph through construction zones.
Looking ahead, construction on South 421 is set to begin in May. Drivers should plan ahead and be ready to use alternative routes.
As summer approaches, please remember:

• Put your phone down
• Stay alert
Children will be out playing, farmers will be in the fields, and motorcycles will be sharing the road. Let’s all do our part to make it a safe summer in Decatur County.
