KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE THIS 4TH OF JULY!

Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be frightening—and even dangerous—for our furry family members.

Follow these simple tips to help keep your pets safe this Independence Day!

Keep Pets Indoors

Even pets that normally stay outside should be brought inside before the fireworks begin. A quiet, secure room with familiar bedding can help them feel safe.

Make Sure ID Is Up to Date

Check that your pet is wearing a collar with an ID tag and that their microchip information is current. Many pets become lost during fireworks celebrations Dog collars can slip off. The Shelter does microchips for $10.00.

Drown Out the Noise

Turn on a TV, fan, or calming music to help mask the sounds of fireworks.Keep Doors & Gates ClosedGuests coming and going can create opportunities for frightened pets to escape. Remind everyone to keep doors and gates securely closed.

Provide Comfort

Offer favorite toys, treats, blankets, or a safe hiding spot. Let your pet stay where they feel most comfortable.

The loud noises, bright flashes, and crowds can cause severe stress and panic.

Talk to Your Veterinarian

If your pet has a history of anxiety during fireworks, ask your veterinarian ahead of time about safe calming options.
