The first annual Decatur County 4th of July ‘Project We Care’ has ended with 20 boxes on the way to service members on active duty, at home, and abroad.
Thank you to the Decatur County Community Foundation who covered the shipping charges; The Branch not only had contribution boxes, but provided storage and box assembly space; support from local churches; WTRE and The Daily News; postal workers at the Post Office; and all individuals who donated items and finances.
A special thank you to the children for their hand written cards and letters and to the many volunteers who helped collect, pack, and mail the boxes.
The outpouring of donations and assistance from our community was overwhelming. Decatur County is truly the community that cares!
