The Greensburg Cross-Country teams competed in the 25th Annual Eagle Classic Saturday at Nashville, IN. The meet that morning featured over 70 teams from Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. The Pirates had athletes in three different races throughout the day. Greensburg finished 14th as a team in the Freshman and Sophomore Race. Roy Middendorf Zavala was the top runner for the Pirates running a new personal best time of 21:35.5. Landen Fuel ran 21:39.9. David Lutterbach also had his best time of the season with 21:41.4. Konnor Luers broke 22:00 for the first time ever running 21:50.9. Other finishers for Greensburg included Kason Bedel (22:13.6), Liam Hernandez (25:48.1), Noah Grossman (25:50.4), and David Stallsmith (27:36.4, personal best).
The Greensburg girls’ team competed in the Elite Race Saturday against some of the top programs in the state. Carmel’s Annabel Pollert was the individual champion in a time of 16:58.7 leading the Greyhounds to the team title. The Lady Pirates placed 12th out of 16 schools. Eleanor Davis led Greensburg finishing 22nd with a season best time of 19:07.1. Maria Scholle was 66th running 20:24.3. Lulu Webb placed 70th in 20:29.6. Senior Alaina Bedel crossed the finish line in 20:39.0 for 81st. Josie Slaven had her best performance of 2026. She ran a season best time of 22:32.8. Alli Bedel lowered her personal record for 5 km to 22:38.0. Other runners for the Lady Pirates were Emma O’Sullivan (25:14.5), Chloie Davis (28:56.5), Avonlee Bohall (29:12.1), and Elizabeth Walden (29:36.2).
The boys’ varsity team raced in the AA Division on Saturday. Quinton Walker was the top runner for the Pirates he placed 12th out of 191 finishers in the large school race. The senior ran a season best time of 17:17.3. Ben Schneider took 29th in 18:14.1. Jackson Tekulve set a new personal best running 18:51.1 for 49th place. Braylon Brancamp was next for Greensburg taking 50th in 18:52.7. Patrick Robbins ran under 19:00 for the first time this season. He placed 52nd in 18:55.0, his best time ever. Conner Bedel and Henry Corya also had season best times running 19:28.6 and 19:29.6, respectively. Xavier Wade was 88th in 19:45.5, and follow senior Ethan Clifford placed 89th in 19:46.0. Greensburg races again on Tuesday when North Decatur hosts the County Meet at North Branch Golf Course. The girls’ race is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.
