HEA 1006 signed into law

STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) (standing, center) joins state leaders as Gov. Eric Holcomb (seated, center) ceremonially signs into law House Enrolled Act 1006 on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield. HEA 1006, which Frye co-authored, supports local law enforcement, and boosts accountability and transparency in policing. The law allows full employment record sharing between police departments to vet potential officers and provides the state additional flexibility to address significant officer misconduct. The legislation also includes a $70 million investment in improved training programs and facility upgrades at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.

House Enrolled Act 1006 took effect July 1.
