Chase Tekulve recipient of the January Optimist Youth of the Month

Greensburg Community High School Senior, Chase Tekulve is the Greensburg Optimist Youth of the Month for January 2025. Chase is the son of Katina and Elliott Tekulve.

Chase is ranked 7th in his class of 153 students with a GPA of 3.9170. Chase is on track to earn his Core 40 Academic Honors and Technical Honors diploma. Chase has poured himself into a very rigorous schedule while at GCHS. From Honors English, Math, and Science courses to three years of PLTW and Engineering courses, he rose and grew from each challenge presented.

In addition to his studies, Chase has been a key leader and member in many clubs and athletic teams. Chase has been a four-year member of FCA as well as being on their leadership team, four years with Student Council, two years with National Honor Society and current president, four years in the Young Men’s Group, and was sophomore class president. Chase also was a dedicated four-year member of the cross-country team, four-year member of the baseball team and participated in basketball for one year.

Within our community, Chase has been a server at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for the past seven years and recently became a Eucharistic Minister. In his spare time, you can find Chase working for his family at Water-Tek, Inc. Pool Store for the last six years.

Chase shared that his biggest moment at GCHS was the opportunity to be a Lilly finalist. His favorite class while at GCHS has been Engineering Design and Development, which he and his classmates will share about shortly.

There are many stanzas of the Optimist Creed that are reflected daily in Chase’s life but especially:

❖ To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

❖ To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

Chase has chosen his donation to go to the Decatur County Right to Life and to continue his education at Trine University located in Angola, Indiana.
