Greensburg, Ind. —The City of Greensburg is pleased to announce the promotion of two dedicated team members to lead the Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Aaron Schwendenmann, a valued member of the Water Plant team since 2011, has been promoted to Superintendent following the resignation of outgoing Superintendent Rick Denney in January 2025. Aaron will assume the role on April 12, 2025. Joe Cain, who has served as the Lab Technician for the Wastewater Treatment Plant since 2022 but began his career with the City in 1998, will step into the role of Superintendent, effective February 2025.
About Aaron:
Aaron, a lifelong resident of Greensburg, has been an integral part of the local water company since 2011. Throughout his tenure, he has worked on the outside crew and in the lab, gaining valuable hands-on experience. Aaron has earned his DSL (Distribution System-Large), WT3 (Well Water Treatment), and WT5 (Surface Water Treatment) certifications, demonstrating his expertise in water treatment. He now steps into the role of superintendent, where he will apply his knowledge and leadership to serve the community. Aaron and his wife, Shawna, along with their two young children, are thrilled about this new chapter and the opportunity to contribute to Greensburg’s water services.
About Joe:
Joe, a lifelong Greensburg resident, graduated from Greensburg High School in 1992. He and his wife, LuAnn, married in 1998 and have three children: Samantha, Clayton, and Morgan. Joe began his career with the City of Greensburg in 1998 at the Water Plant before transitioning to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2004. Most recently, he served as the Lab Manager at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, where he gained extensive experience in water management. Holding Wastewater Operator Class II and IV certifications, Joe is well-prepared to lead the Wastewater Treatment Plant in his new role. He and his family are excited about this opportunity and remain committed to serving the community.
