Mike McNealy, Greensburg Police Chief recognized the retirement of Richard Jarrod McCalvin. Richard graduated from Greensburg High School in 1998, became a Greensburg Police Officer May 2002. Richard has held the ranks of Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Patrol Captain, and Investigator 1. Richard served two and a half years as a School Resource Officer. Richard has been an instrumental part of the Greensburg Police Department for the past 23 years and submitted his letter of resignation in April of 2025. He is not going far as he has accepted a position as School Resource Officer at the Greensburg Community School Corporation and he will continue to work as a reserve police officer.
Nate Stroermer, Fire Chief received approval to promote Lt. Prentice to Captain. He provided information on purchasing a new rescue pickup truck to replace the 2004 model that they currently have as the truck begins to experience increased mechanical concerns. The board approved the request. The estimated delivery date is in 2027 which coincidently is the same year that they are estimated to receive their aerial apparatus that they ordered in 2023.
The board also voted to enter into a contract with Strand & Associates that would allow them to begin investigating the best way that the fire department can stage an aerial apparatus at Station 2. Currently the ceiling is not tall enough to hold a truck of that size. The three options that the fire chief mentioned that the engineer will be looking are 1. raising the roof to allow the parking of the truck, 2. adding another bay that would accommodate the height of the truck, or 3. building a stand-alone building to house station 2.
