The City of Greensburg Water Board met on July 2, 2024 at 6 pm.
The meeting began with approval of the June 4, 2024 meeting minutes.
The board opened the one bid that was received for the 2005 Ford F-150 that was discussed at a previous Water Board meeting. This vehicle had a cracked block among other mechanical issues that the board voted to replace and to take bids on the 2005 Ford. Chris Stephens, Attorney opened the bid from Tony Boyce and the bid amount was $601.00. The board approved this bid.
Rick Denny, Water Plant Superintendent, received approval to move forward with their portion of $7,500 of the Rate Study that is being conducted. This is conducted every 3-5 years to ensure that they are keeping rates at a level that they can complete capital improvements. It is done this way to avoid several years of no raises and a sudden rate increase when it is time to have a project. This rate study is being conducted for the Water Department, Wastewater Department, and the Stormwater for the city. Rick updated the board that he will be contacting the numbers provided to him about painting the South Water Tower. Rick provided his June Monthly Report of Operations to the board.
Rick did inform the board that his team had 8 water main breaks in the past two weeks with some occurring right after another. He spoke about how proud of his crew he is. Rick said he doesn’t have a large crew but every team member knows what needs done and everyone jumps in and does what needs done. He went on to say that it is experience and there is no replacement for experience. He was happy to say that it had been 48 hours since the last break. (While saying this he was attempting to find wood to knock on.)
The board asked Rick to pass along their appreciation and thankfulness for their hard work and team efforts.
The meeting was adjourned.
