Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday.

Mark Mohr gave an update. On CR 200 W off of CR 1100 S they will be replacing some pipes and reworking channeling before final paving. This is a Community Crossing Grant Project. The Westport Covered Bridge repairs have been impressive and one side of the bridge is completed. The price has dropped by roughly $9,000 for roof repairs, washing, and painting the bridge as well. The price is not $19,500.

Kenny Buening gave an update. There have been 45 building inspections, 14 new building permits, 1 renewed permit, and 5 red tags- 1 for basement stairs, 2 for GFIs, 1 had many problems, and 1 had a basement door with no landing.

Kevin Kreckler presented the property and liability insurance renewal. This was put under review.

Main Street Greensburg came to the board to request use of facilities for the Farmer’s market. This will be every Friday from May 6-September. The 4 Friday of every month will use more space than the other Fridays for extra events. This will be from the Monument to the Franklin Street crosswalk. This was approved.

The board approved the request of use for the Right to Life cross display.

The finished quilt from Art on the Square for the Bicentennial was presented. Each block represents Decatur County.

The fairgrounds maintenance manager is Jake Bauer.
