Decatur County Commissioners

The Decatur County Commissioners met on Tuesday.

Todd Houk gave an update on the highway department. The first snow of the season has come and gone. Most of their efforts were on highly traveled roads, as most of the backroads became plugged up with drifting snow. They have gotten word back from INDOT on the bridge maintenance grant and will continue following up. They are continuing mowing and patching.

Kenny Buening gave an update. There have been 31 inspections, 6 building permits, 1 permit renewal, and no red tags. There is a property being followed up on for complaints of trash accumulation. The new county highway department has had the perimeter corners poured.

The board approved for Patty Hensley to be given the Human Resources position. This was out of 6 interviews and they had the most HR experience. The salary will be $65,000 with an additional $5,000 for this year for office furnishings as the office is completely empty currently.

Sheriff Bill Meyerrose introduced the new Chief Deputy Eric Blodgett and jail coordinator Mike Eggleston. All are looking forward to the next 4 years.

Chris Fogel presented the contractural service agreement for the overall budget. This does include a small portion of salaries but is mainly for the Purdue resources offered in the community. This was approved.
