The Decatur County Community Schools Board of Education met on Wednesday.
The board approved the appointments of: North Decatur- Melissa Blasczak – 2nd Shift Custodian, Jeff Steele – Assistant Varsity Softball Coach, Brittany Foster – Assistant Varsity Softball Coach, Becky Bingham – Jr. High Softball Coach, Anna Schwering – Jr. High Softball Coach, Christian McQueen – Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach, David Gearhart – Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach, South Decatur- Allison Boilanger – AG Teacher
Covering medical leave beginning March 31, 2023, Chris Ogle – Volunteer Assistant Varsity Track Coach, Francis Pate – Volunteer Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach, Brandon Scudder – Assistant Baseball Coach, Shane Lakins – Assistant Baseball Coach, Mike Cole – Jr. High Baseball Coach, Abby Wall – Jr. High Softball Coach, Jesse Haley – Jr. High Softball Coach, and Darrin Gaines – Interim Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. The board approved the resignations of: North Decatur- Madeline Childress – Math Teacher – May 26, 2023, Jessica Meyer – School Nurse – March 17, 2022, Katy Prarie – Art Teacher – May 26, 2023, South Decatur- LeaAnn Nobbe – Biomedical Sciences Teacher – May 26, 2023, Zach Manson – Band Director – May 26, 2023, Kasey Cleland – Biology Teacher – May 26, 2023, and Julie Poulter – 2nd Shift Custodian – March 7, 2023. The board approved the medical leave of South Decatur Rebecca Gauck – 6th Grade Teacher. The board approved the termination of South Decatur Jason Hacker – Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Non-Renewal – Effective immediately.
All field trips were approved.
The board approved the one-time supplemental payment stipend for the 2022-2023 school year for Steve Stir, 5-2. There was a question on whether or not there is a contract some sort that would ensure they couldn’t just leave after receiving the stipend, in order to protect the taxpayers money. No there is not.
