The Decatur County Council met on July 16, 2024, at 9 am.
The meeting began with the approval of the June meeting minutes.
Jamie Brown, Lifetime Resources came to the meeting to request funds from the 2025 budget.
Patrick Graue, Champions of Youth requested funds from the 2025 budget.
Krista Duvall, Area Plan came to the council to request funding for a non-reverting fund to create an unsafe building fund. Marie Shepherd from Jennings County was available via zoom with additional information from the project that they ran during their cleanup at Country Squire Lakes. The council asked Krista to come to the council with a plan of what this would look like and what is needed funding is needed and to come back to the council. They are all in agreement that they are willing to work with the commissioners on this project.
A community member from Burney was present at the meeting and said that she is tired of having to fight to get properties cleaned up in the area. She said she has been reporting and fighting for 5 years or more. She said that the commissioners send letters and don’t really follow up and these property owners know this. The council did say that they would look at the plan and work with the commissioners to work on these concerns.
The council approved transfers and additions.
