Decatur County Democrats to Hold Caucus to Fill Leadership Vacancy

GREENSBURG, IN – The Decatur County Democratic Party will convene a caucus on August 25th to elect a new vice chair, as announced in a recent letter to precinct committee members. The meeting, which will be held at 6:00 p.m. at 114 E. Washington St., is a key step in filling a leadership vacancy within the party’s central committee.

According to the letter from Ryan Maddux, the caucus is being held in accordance with party rules, which require precinct committee chairs, vices, and central committee members to meet and fill any vacancies within 30 days. The primary task of the caucus will be to elect a new vice chair. The letter specifies that, in alignment with State Party rules, the position must adhere to gender parity with the current party chair.

Nominations for the vice chair position are now open. Interested individuals, or those who wish to nominate someone else, must submit a nomination form to Ryan Maddux. The deadline for all nominations is noon on August 24th. The nomination form certifies that the nominee is a registered voter in Decatur County, a member of the Democratic Party, and expresses their desire to be placed on the official ballot for the caucus. Forms can be sent via US mail to 225 North Stewart St., Greensburg, Indiana 47240, or electronically to madduxr@gmail.com.

Precinct committee chairs and vices are the only members tasked with voting at the caucus and are encouraged to attend. The outcome of the caucus will determine a new leader for the local party, impacting its structure and future direction.
