Decatur County Prosecutor Nathan Harter Joins WTRE
Decatur County Prosecutor Nathan Harter joined WTRE Thursday morning to provide an update on the productivity of his office and several issues impacting the local justice system.
Prosecutor Harter shared that during July and August, his office closed more cases than it filed, helping to work toward balancing the number of active cases.
He also reviewed the current Decatur County jail population, which has remained steady since his last visit. Harter discussed the process—and some of the frustrations—involved with getting inmates who are currently being held locally transferred to the Indiana Department of Correction (DOC).
During the program, Harter also highlighted four recently resolved cases, providing listeners with an overview of the outcomes.
Harter discussed his recent budget presentation to the Decatur County Council, including what his office requested, why those funds were needed, and the potential impact of SEA 1 and how its effects could ultimately impact citizens across Indiana.
