A warming shelter has opened in Greensburg to offer a safe place for individuals during the ongoing cold weather, according to Washington Township Trustee Beverly Rivera.
The shelter is located at the Decatur County Health Department at 315 S. Ireland Street. Guests should enter through the rear of the building at Door 14.
Rivera said the shelter is open effective immediately and is scheduled to remain available through January 29, with the option to extend operations if severe weather continues.
“Anyone who needs a warm, safe place to stay is welcome,” Beverly Rivera said.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with shelter operations. Those interested can sign up for four-hour shifts by contacting Beverly directly at 812-570-8005.
