At 4:38am Tuesday Marion Township VFD, Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department – Napoleon, IN, and Decatur County EMS were dispatched by Decatur County Communications to the 2600 Block of 500 South for a reported structure fire. Initial reports noted the structure fully engulfed and “on the ground” with multiple possible exposures.
Marion Township VFD responded swiftly and arrived to find the remnants of an approximate 60X60 structure on fire with collapse. This structure was one of many located at a local sawmill. First arriving, started multiple departments to assist with tanker shuttle operations.
Letts Community Vol. Fire Dept. also responded an aerial device to assist in safely extinguish the blaze.
We would like to extend our thanks to Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department – Napoleon, IN, Greensburg Fire Department, Letts Community Vol. Fire Dept., and Westport Community Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County Sherriff’s Department, and Decatur County Communications for the assistance in the safe operations on scene.
No injuries were reported. The structure is deemed a total loss. Units marked in-service just before 11:00am this morning.
