Fatal Accident on S. State Road 3 July 3rd

Greensburg, IN- On July 3, 2021, at approximately 09:54 a.m., the Decatur County
Communications Center received a report of a single motorcycle accident on S State
Road 3 near the intersection of S County Road 800 W. Decatur County Sheriff’s Deputies
Robert Goodfellow, Patrick Richards and Westport Town Marshal Joe Talkington
responded.
When Deputies arrived, members of the Westport Volunteer Fire Department
were already on scene providing emergent medical attention to Stephanie Freeman, 60
years of age, of Alexandria, IN, who was unconscious.
Witnesses stated that the motorcycle driven by Mrs. Freeman was southbound on
S SR 3, left the north side of roadway in a curve, and slid into the ditch. Mrs. Freeman
was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where she later succumbed to her
injuries. At the time of the incident, Mrs. Freeman was wearing a helmet. No one else
was injured in the incident and the incident remains under investigation.
Agencies responding to the incident included: Decatur County Communications
Center, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur County EMS, Westport Volunteer Fire
Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Stat Flight, Westport Police Department, and
TDS wrecker.
